Mine Workers are Breaking Records Using the EKG-18

4 September 2018

Kuzbass miners continue breaking records using EKG-18 power shovel made by Uralmashplant. As of the end of August, a crew of the EKG machine owned by Storyservice company has loaded more than 1 million cubic meters of rock. Such performance can be compared with the performance of machines equipped with larger buckets.

Historic high output of the machine was achieved at Berezovskiy open-cast mine: a working crew of EKG-18 machine (at present the designation of this model is EKG-20) made by Uralmashplant achieved an output of 1 million 17 thousands of rock in August. Such result is recorded for the first time during the 7 years of service of 20 m3 bucket capacity machine. According to the representatives of Stroyservice, the August output of the EKG-18 is virtually comparable with the record output of models equipped with larger buckets.

"Uralmashplant mining machinery shows very good performance. For us, as the manufacturer of these machines, it is very important. Our task is to provide Russian-made equipment that is as reliable and efficient as the best foreign equivalents for the main sectors of economy," says Mr. Konstantin Smirnyh, Excavating equipment sales director, UK UZTM-KARTEX.

Traditionally, high-performance month campaigns in coal-mining companies are conducted in summer. Basing on the results of these campaigns Uralmashplant, starting from the last year, awards the crews that achieved the highest output using UZTM machines with money prizes and gifts. Last year the prize was won by workers of one of the mines owned by Kuzbassrazrezugol who handled 675.3 thousand cubic meters of rock. The results achieved this year are significantly higher: in July the crew of EKG-18 working at Barzasskoe Tovarischestvo mine (Stroyservice LLC) handled 771 thousand cubic meters of overburden, the crew working at Pervomaiskiy mine (HK SDS-Ugol) – 720 thousand cubic meters (the company is using the ENG-20 for several months yet), and the crew working at – 678 thousand cubic meters. And in August the workers of Stroyservice achieved the historic maximum.

The first EKG-18 was supplied by Uralmashplant in the year 2011, and in 2017 the production volume reached 10 machines. At the moment, nearly all large mining companies in Russia (UK Kuzbassrazrezugol, HK SDS-Ugol, Stroyservice LLC, Mechel-Mining JSC, UK Metalloinvest, Karelskiy Okatysh JSC, MHK EuroChem JSC, etc,) use this model at their open-cast mines; more than 20 machines with 20 m3 bucket are in use. Also, more than 10 machines are being manufactured at the Uralmashplant works.

"Uralmashplant" JSC (celebrating its 85th jubilee in July of 2018) is one of the leaders in the Russian market of equipment for metallurgy, mining, construction-materials and power-engineering industries. The Company’s development strategy aims to launch machine-building lines that would correspond to the highest world standards and would be capable of providing comprehensive services to the customers to cover their equipment requirements. "Uralmashplant" JSC supported by its strategic partner Gazprombank developed and implements an investment program that provides for a large-scale upgrade of the Company’s production facilities. During its 85th year in business, the company has manufactured the first mine winder machine in its history, becoming the only manufacturer of such equipment in Russia. The plans of Uralmashplant are including the development of a new power shovel model EKG-25, production of a hydraulic excavator, and widening the range of offered crushers.
